The most commonly used connectivity standard used today is HDMI®. From HDTV, DVD players, cameras, audio/video components and many other consumer electronics, it’s no surprise that there are many types and versions of HDMI cables. With HDMI being a digital video/audio signal format, it has taken the AV world by storm. Let’s take a closer look at the HDMI Specifications:

Today, the most common HDMI cables found in the market are HDMI Specification’s 1.3 and above.

Version 1.4 supports can support up to 4K resolution and Ethernet while version 2.0 is already known to manufacturers as HDMI UHD (Ultra High Definition). The popularity of 4K displays currently will only drive the use of version 2.0 to our homes and businesses since its release in 2013.

Regarding connector types, HDMI has 5 defined as Type A (full size HDMI), Type B which is slightly larger than a full HDMI, Type C (Mini), Type D (Micro) and Type E which is mostly designed for automotive systems. In addition, version 1.4 of HDMI has the designed types:
