The VS-88UT is an all-in-one presentation matrix switcher designed to centralize AV signal distribution and control in professional environments. It combines an 8×8 HDMI/HDBaseT 4K60 4:2:0 matrix, USB extension, PoE and an integrated master room controller into a single 2U rack unit. The unit routes video and embedded audio to HDMI and HDBaseT outputs while offering amplified speaker output for local audio distribution.
Designed for multi-source presentations, the VS-88UT supports 4 HDMI inputs plus 4 selectable HDMI/HDBaseT inputs and delivers 6 HDMI and 2 HDBaseT outputs. The system provides advanced audio handling including de-embedding, balanced line outputs and a stereo power amplifier. HDBaseT 2.0 support adds USB 1.1/2.0 extension and PoE on HDBaseT outputs to power remote receivers and auxiliary controllers.
Performance features include 4K UHD at 60Hz (4:2:0) video support, a 10.2 Gbps maximum data rate, and Kramer reKlocking and equalization to preserve signal integrity over extended runs. HDBaseT extension ranges reach up to 100m at 4K60 and farther at lower resolutions, enabling reliable long-distance distribution. The system is HDCP and HDMI 2.0 compliant and supports deep color, 3D and 7.1 PCM audio formats.
Connectivity is extensive: balanced and unbalanced audio inputs, multiple IR and serial control ports, USB-A and USB-B hubs for USB link extension, 1G Ethernet and a dedicated Ethernet control port. The built-in master room controller provides RS-485, RS-232, IR, GPI/O and eight relays, plus a K-NET connector for auxiliary keypads and power distribution. Firmware upgrades and remote management are handled over Ethernet via Kramer Network and K-Config compatibility.
Typical applications include boardrooms, lecture halls, training centers and auditoriums that require centralized switching, device control and long-reach distribution. The VS-88UT supports auto-switching, audio-follow-video and audio breakaway modes to fit a wide range of presentation workflows. Global mute and emergency override integration are provided for simple compliance with PA systems.
The unit is built in a 2U aluminum chassis with fan ventilation and includes non-volatile memory to retain last settings after power cycles. Rack-mountable hardware and front-panel indicators simplify installation and troubleshooting. Kramer supplies regular firmware updates and network control tools to maintain integrated installations over time.
