The VS-88H2 is an 8×8 HDMI matrix switcher designed to distribute multiple 4K HDR HDMI sources to multiple displays. It supports 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) signals and HDCP content protection, providing reliable signal distribution in professional AV environments. The unit combines video reclocking and equalization to maintain signal integrity over longer cable runs.
Key features include eight HDMI inputs and eight HDMI outputs, selectable HDCP per input, and embedded digital audio routing that includes ARC sources. The unit supports Deep Color, 3D formats and up to 7.1 channels of uncompressed audio as defined by HDMI 2.0. An embedded pattern generator and smart switching logic add flexibility for system configuration and testing.
Performance specifications include support for HDR content, HDCP 2.2 and 1.4, and an 18 Gbps data rate for each HDMI link. Kramer re-Klocking and equalization technology restores signal timing and amplitude to extend practical cable distances. The VS-88H2 also supports EDID capture and individual EDID management per input to ensure compatibility with attached displays and sources.
Connectivity covers eight HDMI inputs, eight HDMI outputs, RS-232 serial control, Ethernet for web-based configuration and Protocol 3000 API, and mini USB for firmware updates. Front panel controls provide direct input selection, memory and lock functions, and visible input/output LED indicators for troubleshooting. The unit also supports Step-In collaboration when used with compatible Kramer devices to simplify presenter switching.
Typical applications include boardrooms, lecture halls, control rooms, and rental/install systems where multiple sources must be routed to multiple displays. The unit is suitable for integration in presentation systems, digital signage deployments and AV distribution installations that require robust HDCP handling and flexible audio routing.
