The Kramer VS-84UT is an all-in-one AV presentation system that combines an 8×4 HDMI/HDBaseT matrix switcher, integrated HDBaseT extension and a programmable master room controller. It routes HDMI and HDBaseT 2.0 sources at up to 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 while providing audio embedding, de-embedding and a powered speaker output. The unit is designed for centralized AV systems requiring signal extension, control and audio distribution in a single 2U rack unit.
Key capabilities include six HDMI inputs and two HDBaseT inputs switching to two HDMI outputs and two HDBaseT outputs, HDCP and DVI compliance and support for Deep Color, 3D and 7.1 PCM. The integrated room controller supplies RS-232, RS-485, IR, GPI/O and relay ports and supports K-NET for auxiliary control keypads and powered K-NET devices. HDBaseT outputs include PoE and USB extension for peripheral connectivity at remote locations.
Performance highlights are a 10.2 Gbps aggregate data rate and 3.4 Gbps per graphics channel, active source and acceptor detection, auto-switching and auto-scanning and retention of configuration in non-volatile memory. HDBaseT extension reaches up to 100m at 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 and longer distances for 1080p depending on mode. The system implements Kramer reKlocking and equalization to rebuild digital signals for long-distance transmission.
Connectivity covers multiple I/O formats: HDMI, HDBaseT RJ-45, balanced and unbalanced analog audio, microphone inputs, USB-A and USB-B extension ports, Ethernet control, RS-232 and RS-485 serial ports, IR in/out and K-NET connectors. Audio routing supports audio-follow-video, audio breakaway, balanced line outputs and a stereo powered speaker output for local amplification. The unit is compatible with Kramer Network and K-Config software for monitoring and control.
Typical applications include corporate boardrooms, lecture halls, training rooms, houses of worship and event spaces where multiple sources must be distributed, extended and centrally controlled. The integrated control engine allows scheduling, macros and multi-client IP control for simultaneous management by up to 15 clients. Global mute and public announcement integration simplify emergency audio handling.
Installation is simplified by a 19 inch 2U rack chassis, universal 100-240V AC input and fan ventilation for sustained operation. Embedded web pages and Protocol 3000 API provide configuration and maintenance interfaces while firmware upgrades are supported over Ethernet. The aluminum enclosure and Kramer seven-year warranty support long-term deployments.
