Description
The VP-428H2 is an HDBaseT 4K transmitter, scaler and auto switcher that accepts DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA inputs. It receives the selected AV signal and converts it for transmission over HDBaseT while providing power to compatible receivers – PoE capable. The unit is HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 compliant to support modern UHD sources.
Built around Kramer PixPerfect(TM) scaling technology, the VP-428H2 offers precision pixel mapping and high quality scaling to native or selected output resolutions. The scaler supports upscaling, downscaling or bypass modes and includes a built-in ProcAmp for color, hue, sharpness, noise, contrast and brightness per input. Constant output sync prevents video disruption when switching between inputs while no video is detected.
Performance highlights include a maximum input of 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) and a maximum HDBaseT output of 4K@60Hz (4:2:0), and a max data rate of 10.2Gbps. Video latency is typically 2 to 3 frames and switching time between inputs is approximately 2 to 3 seconds depending on sources and resolutions. The device supports HDBaseT tunneling of Ethernet, bidirectional RS-232 and IR signals to extend control and network connectivity.
Connectivity includes one DisplayPort input, one HDMI input, one 15-pin PC/VGA input, stereo unbalanced analog audio and IR on 3.5mm jacks, plus an RJ-45 HDBaseT output. Additional ports include an Ethernet RJ-45 for tunneling, a USB-A port and two 3-pin terminal blocks for DATA and CTRL RS-232. The HDBaseT output also provides PoE to compatible receivers and supports long-reach transmission up to 100m using recommended copper cable.
The VP-428H2 is suited to presentation and signage environments where signal conversion and long-distance delivery are required – boardrooms, lecture halls and digital signage deployments are common examples. It handles multiple source types and preserves embedded audio while offering independent audio level controls. Auto input switching modes include last connected and auto-scan to simplify source management.
Installation is straightforward thanks to an aluminum enclosure with convection ventilation and non-volatile memory that saves final settings. The unit ships with a 48V DC power supply and supports optional rack mounting via the RK-T2B adapter. Front panel buttons, RS-232 control and an on-screen display provide flexible control options for integrators and end users.
