The VP-427X is an HDBaseT HDMI receiver that accepts long-reach HDBaseT video and a local HDMI input and provides auto-switching and scalable HDMI output. It converts incoming HDBaseT signals to HDMI while offering up- or down-scaling to match displays up to 4K@60Hz (4:4:4). The unit is designed to simplify AV signal distribution and source switching in professional and education environments.
Key features include automatic input switching, flexible scaling controls and support for multiple HDCP versions to maintain compatibility with secured sources. The scaler can be set manually or configured to match the connected display resolution automatically. CEC auto display control and a front-panel freeze control add convenience for end users and presenters.
Performance highlights include support for up to 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) and extended reach up to 40m/130ft at 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) and up to 70m/230ft at 1080p@60Hz. The device supports HDCP 2.2 and 1.4 and carries xvYCC color signaling on the HDMI input where applicable. Audio de-embedding outputs HDMI audio to a balanced stereo connection for easy integration with room audio systems.
Connectivity covers an HDBaseT input, a local HDMI input and an HDMI output plus balanced stereo audio de-embed. Bidirectional RS-232 is provided for remote control and serial data extension and relay outputs enable connection to occupancy sensors or contact-closure switches. Local control is available via front-panel buttons and on-screen display while firmware updates are applied locally via USB.
The VP-427X fits common AV use cases such as classrooms, lecture halls, meeting rooms and training facilities where BYOD and simple source switching are required. It handles mixed fleets of devices by negotiating EDID and HDCP automatically through I-EDIDPro intelligent EDID processing. ProcAmp controls for contrast, brightness and color allow integrators to fine-tune output to match displays.
Installation is streamlined by the compact MegaTOOLS fan-less enclosure that supports dropped-ceiling mounting or side-by-side mounting of two units in a single 1U rack space using the recommended adapter. The unit offers easy maintenance with local USB firmware upgrade capability and straightforward connectivity for control systems. Overall build quality and system integration features make it suitable for sustained AV installations.
