The VM-2HDT is an HDBaseT 1×2 HDMI distribution amplifier designed to extend a single HDMI source to two long-reach HDBaseT receivers while providing a local HDMI loop output. It supports up to 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) video and includes IR and RS-232 control pass-through for remote device management. This unit targets installations that require reliable HDMI signal distribution over twisted-pair cabling.
The unit distributes one HDMI input to two HDBaseT outputs and provides an HDMI loop output for local monitoring or daisy chaining additional units. It supports HDMI 2.0 signal characteristics, HDCP 1.4 compliance, deep color, x.v.Color, and multi-channel audio formats. Built-in EDID management and Kramer equalization and re-klocking technologies preserve signal integrity across the extension line.
Performance-wise the VM-2HDT carries up to 10.2 Gbps bandwidth, supporting 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) at 24bpp and full HD at greater distances. Over HDBaseT cabling it reaches up to 40m (130ft) at 4K@60Hz and up to 70m (230ft) at 1080p60 36bpp when using certified HDBaseT cabling. Status LEDs and diagnostics aid in verifying link integrity and troubleshooting installations.
Connectivity includes one HDMI input, two RJ-45 HDBaseT outputs and one HDMI loop output plus a 3.5mm IR port and a 3-pin terminal block RS-232 port for control pass-through. The device is HDBaseT 1.0 compatible and interoperates with HDBaseT receivers such as Kramer TP-580R and other compliant products. EDID setup and DIP switch configuration let integrators optimize source/display handshakes.
Typical applications include digital signage distribution, lecture halls and boardrooms where a single HDMI source must feed multiple long-reach displays. It also suits AV distribution in retail, hospitality and corporate environments where centralized control and long-distance signal extension are required. The unit is appropriate for both new installs and retrofit projects that use existing twisted-pair infrastructure.
Installation is straightforward using twisted-pair cabling and the compact MegaTOOLS metal enclosure supports over-ceiling mounting or side-by-side rack mounting with optional hardware. Convection cooling ensures fan-less operation for quiet installations and the device ships with an external power supply. Onboard controls, LEDs and firmware upgrade support via Mini-USB simplify setup and maintenance.
