The VM-218DTXR is an HDBaseT extender distributor designed to accept either an HDMI or an extended-reach HDBaseT input and distribute identical extended-reach HDBaseT outputs. It equalizes and reclocks incoming video and sends native HDBaseT signals to eight remote receivers while offering a local HDMI loop output. The unit supports up to 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) video and includes audio de-embedding for local audio playback.
Key features include selectable HDMI or HDBaseT input, one HDMI loop output, and eight HDBaseT outputs each carrying video, Ethernet, RS-232 and IR control. The device supports HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 1.4 and passes EDID information to maintain optimal source/display negotiation. An integrated intelligent EDID processing algorithm simplifies plug and play operation across varied display environments.
Performance supports a maximum data rate of 10.2 Gbps and 4K@60Hz at 4:2:0 24bpp color depth. Extension range reaches up to 100m (330ft) at 4K@60Hz over certified CAT copper cable and extends further at lower resolutions. Status LEDs, local and remote control options, and firmware update capabilities support cost-effective maintenance and field upgrades.
Connectivity is comprehensive with one HDMI input, one HDBaseT input, one HDMI loop output, eight HDBaseT outputs, one stereo analog audio de-embed output, one Ethernet port and dedicated IR and RS-232 ports for each output. Ethernet, RS-232 and IR signals are bidirectional on each extension line enabling LAN communication and remote control of devices. The HDMI loop allows local monitoring or cascading to additional distribution devices.
Typical applications include presentation and multimedia systems where a single source must be extended and distributed to multiple remote displays, as well as rental and staging environments requiring long-reach distribution and centralized control. The audio de-embed output enables local amplified audio independent of the display sink. The unit integrates into standard AV system topologies and pairs with market-available HDBaseT compliant receivers.
Installation is straightforward with twisted-pair HDBaseT wiring and a 1U rack-mountable aluminum enclosure supplied with rack ears. The unit uses forced-air cooling and accepts 100-240V AC mains power for global deployment. Built-in web pages, RS-232 control and mini-USB support provide flexible management options for installers and operators.
