The VE8900T is an HDMI over IP transmitter that sends visually lossless 1080p AV signals over standard gigabit networks. It minimizes latency while preserving image quality using ATENs light compression technology. The unit is engineered for large-scale multi-display deployments and straightforward network installation.
Key features include visually lossless compression, ultra-low latency, EDID Expert to optimize display resolutions and seamless daisy chaining for extended reach. The device supports point-to-point and multi-point AV distribution across standard Cat5e/6 cabling. No additional server PCs or proprietary software are required to operate basic distribution scenarios.
Performance delivers average data rates of approximately 150 to 500 Mbps and supports up to 1080p at distances up to 100 m over Cat5e/6 in point-to-point configurations. Power is DC 5V with a typical consumption of 3.2 W. The metal-housed transmitter operates reliably between 0 and 40°C and stores safely between -20 and 60°C.
Connectivity includes 1 x HDMI Type A input, 1 x mini stereo jack audio input, IR control jack, RS-232 terminal block, and a USB Type B port for control and peripheral connectivity. The transmitter uses a locking DC jack for power and provides two pushbuttons for ID number selection when used in multi-unit deployments. EDID Expert automates EDID selection to ensure correct display behavior on power-up.
Typical use cases include digital signage networks, trade show video walls, airport information displays and campus AV distribution where multiple displays require synchronized 1080p video. The unit supports matrix, splitter, extender and daisy chain topologies to scale systems without complex IP configuration. Its network-based approach removes many distance and topology limitations found in traditional AV distribution systems.
Installation is straightforward with standard gigabit network switches and Cat5e/6 cabling, and the lightweight metal housing supports rack or shelf mounting using the included bracket dimensions. The transmitter is designed for reliable continuous operation and easy integration with existing AV control systems using RS-232, IR and USB control options. Built-in EDID and compact form factor simplify deployment and maintenance.
