The VE8900R is an HDMI over IP receiver that delivers visually lossless 1080p video with ultra-low latency across standard Gigabit LAN infrastructure. It receives compressed video streams sent over a network and outputs HDMI video along with embedded and analog audio. The unit is engineered for scalable multi-display deployments and simple operation.
The receiver uses ATEN’s lightweight compression to preserve image quality while keeping network bandwidth modest. It supports EDID Expert technology to ensure optimal resolution and display handshake across mixed displays. The built-in scaler automatically matches incoming signal to the display’s maximum resolution.
Performance is tuned for an average data rate of 150~500 Mbps while maintaining visually lossless 1080p video and minimal latency. The VE8900R supports point-to-point distances up to 100m over Cat5e/6 in p2p setups. Power consumption is DC 5V, 4.2W and the enclosure is metal for reliable operation.
Connectivity includes 1 x HDMI output, 1 x mini stereo analog audio output, 1 x IR port, 1 x RS-232 terminal block and 2 x USB Type A ports. Network integration is via standard Gigabit switches enabling multi-point to multi-point configurations and daisy chaining. The receiver is HDCP compatible and interoperates with ATEN VE8900 transmitters and other compatible Video over IP endpoints.
Common applications include digital signage networks, conference centers, trade show installations, and campus AV distribution where multiple displays are required. The VE8900R is appropriate for environments that need long-distance AV distribution with centralized content management via network switching. Its small footprint and lightweight compression make it suitable for dense display walls and distributed signage racks.
Setup is straightforward using ID selection pushbuttons and networked configuration; no additional server PC or software is required for basic deployments. The unit runs within an operating temperature range of 0 to 40°C and supports 0 to 80% relative humidity non-condensing. With a compact metal housing and locking DC jack the VE8900R is built for reliable field installation and continuous operation.
