The TR-80N is a two-channel narrow-band UHF wireless beltpack designed to operate with the BTR-80N base station – it provides reliable intercom connectivity in broadcast and live-event environments. This portable user station delivers frequency-agile operation and a compact wearable form factor that fits standard belt mounting. The unit is engineered for field use where clear talk path and quick channel selection are required.
Key operational features include an LCD graphical user interface for parameter display and navigation, a receiver RF meter for signal monitoring, and an audio channel select button for choosing between two intercom channels. Hardware controls include an on/off and volume control, a dedicated talk button and talk light, and a stage announce function for one-way pages. The beltpack also offers wireless talk around (WTA) and enhanced ClearScan for simplified frequency management.
Construction uses an all-metal cast magnesium case to provide mechanical protection and RF stability – the chassis design supports rugged deployment environments. The unit accepts six AA cells as its primary power source and supports NiMH cells as an option for rechargeable operation. Status indicators include a low battery/overmodulation (BAT/OM) light to assist operators in maintaining audio integrity.
Connectivity is focused on headset integration and RF performance – the TR-80N features detachable antennas for flexible RF placement and an auto-sensing headset connector that switches automatically between electret and dynamic microphone headsets. Compatibility with the BTR-80N provides seamless interoperability with RTS intercom systems. The beltpack is a single-user station that does not provide binaural output by default.
Typical applications include broadcast studios, OB vans, live stage production, and corporate events where mobile crew need robust and simple intercom access.
