Description
The TP-789R is an HDBaseT receiver designed to extend HDMI, RS-232 and IR signals over long distances while supporting two-way powering over twisted pair cabling. It accepts 4K60Hz (4:2:0) HDMI sources and maintains HDCP 2.2 compliance for protected content. The unit is intended for integration into distributed AV systems where remote displays and control need to be separated from source equipment.
The receiver supports HDMI 2.0 features including deep color, x.v.Color, lip sync and uncompressed HDMI audio. It also passes EDID and CEC information end-to-end to preserve device interoperability. Bidirectional PoE is auto-sensed so the unit either supplies power to a remote POE acceptor or receives power from a remote POE provider.
Performance extends up to 40m / 130ft over Kramer copper cabling at 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) 24bpp, with longer reach available for lower resolutions. Audio support includes up to 32 channels of uncompressed digital audio and compatibility with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD formats. The receiver implements Kramer I-EDIDPro intelligent EDID handling to simplify source-display negotiation.
Connectivity includes an HDMI input from the HDBaseT line, HDBT port for the copper extension, RS-232 and IR pass-through for control, and LED indicators for quick status checks. The TP-789R is HDBaseT standard compliant and interoperates with market-available HDBaseT products when used with recommended Kramer cabling. Local firmware updates are possible via RS-232.
This receiver is suited for multi-room AV systems, lecture halls, conference rooms, hotels and houses of worship where remote displays and centralized sources are required. It supports common control workflows by extending bidirectional RS-232 and IR control alongside the HDMI signal. The bidirectional PoE capability simplifies installations by reducing the need for separate power runs to remote devices.
Installation is simplified by single-cable connectivity for both signal and power and a compact DigiTOOLS fan-less enclosure that is suitable for dropped-ceiling mounting or side-by-side mounting of three units in a 1U rack with the recommended adapter. Status LEDs aid in maintenance and troubleshooting while the solid-state design provides a quiet rack- or ceiling-mounted solution. The TP-789R balances reach, control extension and power flexibility for practical AV deployments.
