The PT-400NL inline push-to-talk switch kit provides a compact way to add PTT control to headset or microphone cordage. It installs inline on a cable to enable momentary or locked transmit switching for two-way radio and communications gear. The assembly is designed for field use and simple wiring to existing cords.
The kit uses SPDT Form C micro switches rated 10A at 125/250VDC and can be configured as push-to-talk or push-to-cough. The pushbutton supports both momentary and locking ‘on’ action to suit different operational needs. Vinyl strain reliefs and metal retainers secure the cord and reduce stress on soldered connections.
Technical details include solder terminals for reliable wiring and spring pin mounting for positive switch placement inside the housing. The unit accommodates cord up to .180″ (4.6mm) diameter and the entire assembly weighs approximately 0.16 lb (0.072 kg). The housing and pushbutton are molded from high impact plastic for rugged handling.
Connectivity is simple – the switch is wired inline in headphone or microphone cordage and can be used with Ham radio, CB, intercom, and other communications equipment. Solder terminals allow custom wiring to match system pinouts and connector types. The compact form factor leaves the cord flexible while the clip provides wearable mounting options.
Common applications include amateur radio transmit control, CB radio PTT, broadcast talkback switching, and relay keying for remote transmitters. Installation is straightforward – open the housing, position cord in the vinyl strain relief and metal retainer, solder conductors to the terminals and snap the housing closed. The clothing/belt clip rotates 360 degrees so the switch can be positioned ergonomically.
