The KIT-401 is an HDBaseT auto-switcher and scaler kit that pairs a wall-plate transmitter with a compact MegaTOOLS receiver – it extends HDMI and VGA sources over a single CAT cable while providing convenient source switching and scaling. The system supports 4K video and offers Power over Cable (PoC) to simplify installation and reduce local power needs. This kit is designed to deliver clean signal extension, reliable control, and automated source selection for presentation spaces.
Key features include an HDMI and VGA input on the wall-plate transmitter, a local HDMI input on the receiver, audio de-embedding, bidirectional RS-232 extension, and built-in relay and contact-closure connections – all accessible via front-panel buttons and embedded web pages. The receiver auto-switches to the active input and can up- or down-scale video to match the connected HDMI display. I-EDIDPro intelligent EDID handling and HDCP 1.4/2.2 support ensure broad compatibility with modern HDMI sources and displays.
On the video side the KIT-401 supports up to 4K@60Hz operation with 4:4:4 color on the receiver side and 4:2:0 on the transmitter side – the receiver HDMI bandwidth is 18 Gbps while the transmitter is 10.2 Gbps. Extension reach is up to 40m (130ft) at 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 and up to 70m (230ft) at 1080p@60Hz. The system supports a wide range of output resolutions and robust serial baud rates from 300 to 115200 for remote device control.
Connectivity includes HDMI, VGA, balanced and unbalanced audio terminals, HDBaseT RJ-45, Ethernet, RS-232 control ports and USB for firmware updates – all connectors are industry-standard for AV integration. The transmitter fits standard US/EU/UK 2-gang wall boxes and the receiver mounts in dropped ceilings or side-by-side in 1U rack space using the recommended adapter. PoC capability allows powering one unit and feeding the partner unit over the HDBaseT link to reduce cabling.
The KIT-401 is suited to classrooms, meeting rooms, lecture halls and training facilities where clean BYOD support and automated source handling reduce setup time and user confusion. Maestro room automation integration provides scheduling, trigger-based actions and control of room systems to streamline presentations. Local and networked control options including web-based Kramer Aware pages and Protocol 3000 API make it easy to integrate into existing control infrastructures.
