The KL1508AiM is an 8-port KVM over IP console that combines a 17in LED-backlit LCD, keyboard and touchpad in a dual-rail 1U rack housing. It provides both local and remote TCP/IP access to attached servers and workstations. The unit is designed to save rack space while providing secure centralized management of up to 8 direct computers and up to 128 via daisy chain.
Key features include a dual-rail slide design where the keyboard/touchpad and LCD slide independently for easy access and compact storage. The LCD rotates up to 120 degrees and the keyboard can hide away when not in use to reduce the rack footprint. The KL1508AiM also includes LED illumination for low-light operation and a console lock for physical security.
Performance supports local video at 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz and remote video up to 1600 x 1200 @ 60 Hz with DDC2B support. The unit supports PS/2 and USB keyboard and mouse emulation and offers scan intervals from 1 to 255 seconds. Power input accepts 100-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz and typical power consumption is 27 W at 120 VAC and 28 W at 230 VAC.
Connectivity uses space-saving RJ-45 KVM ports compatible with Cat 5e/6 cabling and KVM adapter cables for PS/2, USB, Sun and serial systems. The rear panel includes an extra console port for an external monitor keyboard and mouse as well as LAN and PON RJ-45 connectors and an RJ-11 port for firmware upgrades. The unit supports external USB mice and can cascade up to 15 additional KVM switches.
The KL1508AiM supports robust remote management features including up to 64 user accounts and 32 concurrent remote sessions. Security options include RADIUS, LDAP, LDAPS and MS Active Directory authentication and flexible encryption options up to 256-bit AES for video and 1024-bit RSA certificates for browser logins. Administrative features include event logging, remote power control for PoN devices and integration with ALTUSEN CC2000 management software.
Installation is simplified by the dual-rail 1U form factor and standard rack mounting hardware. The metal housing and industry-standard connectors make integration straightforward in server rooms and data centers. Firmware upgradeability and IPv6 support future-proof deployments while the user interface options reduce training time for operators.
