The KL1108VN is an 8-port Cat 5 KVM over IP switch designed to provide both local and remote management of rack servers and blade enclosures. It integrates a retractable dual-rail 19 inch LED-backlit LCD monitor and keyboard with touchpad for local on-site control. The unit supports remote over IP access and out-of-band modem access to ensure continuous availability.
Key features include dual on-board NICs for redundant LAN or dual IP operation and support for virtual media to map remote USB storage and optical drives. The KL1108VN supports high video resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz for remote sessions and 1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz on the built-in LCD. It also includes advanced security such as TLS 1.2, RSA 2048-bit certificates, and FIPS 140-2 level 1 support.
Performance and management capabilities include support for up to 8 direct ports and cascading to expand capacity, up to 32 concurrent logins and 64 user accounts. Serial console access and modem port provide secure serial server access and out-of-band troubleshooting. KVM adapter cables allow PS/2, USB, Sun and serial connectivity to support multiplatform environments.
This switch is optimized for data center and server room environments that require BIOS-level remote access, virtual media installation and centralized management. It supports blade servers and chassis and preserves EDID information via KVM Adapter Cables for display optimization. Message Board, Panel Array Mode and Mouse DynaSync are included to streamline multi-server administration.
The KL1108VN is built into a metal dual-rail housing that fits within 1U of rack space while allowing independent sliding of the LCD and keyboard. The LCD module rotates up to 120 degrees and features LED illumination for low-light operation and an LCD power button to conserve energy. The unit is firmware upgradeable and supports IPv6 plus SNMP, SMTP and Syslog notifications for event monitoring.
