The KE8950T is a 4K HDMI KVM over IP transmitter designed to extend a single computer video and USB console across an intranet. It provides remote access to a host system from a separate console location using standard TCP/IP networks. This transmitter pairs with a matching receiver to create a full KVM over IP link for remote control and management.
The unit supports UHD video up to 3840 x 2160 @ 30Hz and 36-bit color depth, and it handles interlaced formats such as 1080i. It supports USB Virtual Media to enable remote file transfer, OS deployment and diagnostic tasks. Security features include AES encryption and support for external authentication systems like LDAP and RADIUS when managed via KE Matrix Management Software.
KE8950T is compliant with HDMI 1.4a and HDCP 1.4 and provides stereo audio input and output plus stereo microphone support. It supports Auto-MDIX Ethernet detection and SFP module expansion for fiber connectivity to extend link distances. The device operates fanlessly and includes built-in ESD and surge protection for reliable continuous operation.
Connectivity options include a Gigabit RJ-45 port and an SFP slot for fiber modules, HDMI and USB KVM ports for host connection, and USB/HDMI/mini stereo console ports on the receiver side. RS-232 is available for configuration and serial device passthrough, and OSD plus CLI support lets administrators configure and monitor units remotely. Firmware is upgradeable for feature and security updates.
The KE8950T fits into matrix topologies allowing point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint configurations when combined with KE Matrix Management Software. It supports video grouping, scheduling and fast switching between video sources when managed centrally. Typical applications include broadcast operations, control rooms, multimedia production suites and industrial monitoring environments.
Installation is straightforward – units can be connected directly or via standard network switches and mounted in racks using ATEN rack kits. The metal housing and fanless design provide a durable, quiet platform and the device supports rack mount kits for integration into standard racks. LEDs and audible indicators assist in device identification and troubleshooting during deployment.
