The Galil 4-C is a closed-back, 2-way ceiling speaker designed for distributed audio systems and background music installations. It delivers straightforward ceiling-mounted audio reproduction using a 4 inch polypropylene woofer and a 0.5 inch Mylar tweeter. The closed-back enclosure provides controlled dispersion and reduces sound leakage into plenum spaces – making it appropriate where rear isolation is required.
Key features include selectable 70V/100V transformer taps and an 8 Ohm bypass option for low-impedance use. The speaker includes multiple transformer tap settings to match common commercial audio systems and to enable arrayed installations. The 2-way coaxial design provides clear midrange and intelligible high frequencies for speech and ambient music.
Technically the Galil 4-C offers 85 Hz to 20 kHz response at -10 dB and 100 Hz to 20 kHz at ±3 dB, with a sensitivity of 85 dB SPL at 1W/1m. Power handling is rated at 30W RMS and 80W continuous program, and the crossover point is at 6 kHz for proper woofer/tweeter balance. Maximum continuous SPL is specified at 95 dB with a 97 dB peak.
Connectivity is provided via a terminal block input and the unit supports 8 Ohm direct drive when the transformer is bypassed. Transformer tap options include 70V taps at 30W/15W/7.5W/3.7W/Off and 100V taps at 30W/15W/7.5W/Off. The closed metal back can and ABS bezel with aluminum grill provide a robust interface for most ceiling environments.
Typical applications include conference rooms, classrooms, hotels, and restaurants where reliable background and foreground audio is required. The controlled 90 degree coverage angle and predictable directivity factor simplify placement and acoustic planning in arrays or single-point installations. The speaker is UL 1480 and 2043 listed for compliance in many commercial installations.
Installation is simple with the supplied ceiling mounting kit and safety accessories, and the unit is designed for an approximate 16.7 cm cutout diameter and a 10.7 cm mounting depth.
