The EX-100-G2 is an HDBaseT HDMI extender designed to transmit high-resolution HDMI video and multichannel audio over a single Cat6a/7 cable. It extends HDMI signals up to 100 meters – 328 ft while preserving video quality and control capabilities. The compact transmitter and receiver pair provide a reliable link between source and display in distributed AV systems.
This extender supports HDBaseT power delivery, allowing bi-directional PoC/PoH so that only one power supply is required at either the transmitter or receiver end. It passes IR and RS-232 control signals and supports EDID management and CEC pass-through for remote device control. The system is HDMI 1.4 compliant and supports a wide range of video formats and VESA and SMPTE timings.
Performance metrics include support for 4K up to 4K@60 using 4:2:0 8-bit and 4K@30Hz, plus standard HD formats such as 1080p and 720p. The link bandwidth is up to 6.75 Gbps, and the unit supports multichannel audio including PCM 7.1, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Power is supplied via DC 18V/1A with nominal combined consumption of 13W and separate TX and RX power draws.
Connectivity includes HDMI inputs/outputs on the TX and RX, a single Cat cable link for HDBaseT transport, IR ports and RS-232 for control integration, plus support for EDID management. The extender is compatible with Cat5e/6/6A/7 cabling but is specified for full 100 meter – 328 ft performance over Cat6a/7. Firmware updates are available via a toggle switch and RS-232 interface.
Typical use cases include digital signage runs, conference room AV, classroom and lecture capture systems, and distributed playback where the source must be controlled from the display location. The extender supports remote control of source devices and remote display control through IR and RS-232 passthrough. Its HDBaseT power option reduces the need for local power at both ends of long cable runs.
Installation is straightforward with mounting brackets included and plug-and-play operation for most HDMI sources and displays. The metal enclosures and simple control options make it suitable for rack or under-table mounting, and the system is engineered for dependable operation in fixed AV installations. Firmware upgradability and standard control ports help integrate the EX-100-G2 into managed AV environments.
