The CS1798 is an 8-port HDMI KVM switch that consolidates control of multiple HDMI-equipped computers to a single USB keyboard, USB mouse, and HDMI monitor. It supports cascading and multi-display stacking to expand system capacity while maintaining a single-console workflow. This product is designed to simplify multi-computer control in control rooms, broadcast booths, and monitoring stations.
Key features include HDMI video support, an integrated 2-port USB 2.0 hub, audio pass-through, and ATEN Video DynaSync technology to preserve display settings during switching. The unit supports independent KVM and USB focus so peripheral devices can be assigned separately from keyboard and mouse control. It also provides multilingual on-screen display (OSD) and OSD backup/restore for configuration management.
Performance supports resolutions up to 1080p and 1920 x 1200 at 60Hz, ensuring clear video for monitoring and production tasks. The switch is HDCP compatible and supports wide screen resolutions, delivering full visual fidelity for connected sources. Video DynaSync minimizes boot-up display issues and preserves optimal resolutions when switching between ports.
Connectivity includes one HDMI console port, one USB Type A keyboard port, one USB Type A mouse port, two console speaker jacks, eight HDMI KVM ports, eight speaker jacks, and two front/rear USB 2.0 hub ports. Firmware upgrade and management ports are provided via RJ11 and a slide switch for upgrades. Power is supplied via a DC jack and the unit consumes DC 5.0V; 12.0W.
The CS1798 suits control rooms, broadcast monitoring, post-production suites, and IT management racks where multiple HDMI systems must be accessed from a single console. Cascading up to three levels enables control of up to 512 computers, and multi-display stacking supports dual/triple/quad display layouts when using multiple units. The console mouse emulation and keyboard emulation features ensure reliable boot and peripheral compatibility.
The unit is built in a metal housing for rack-friendly durability and measures 43.72 x 25.66 x 4.40 cm while weighing approximately 3.49 kg. Operating range covers 0 to 50°C and non-condensing humidity up to 80% RH, making it suitable for standard AV deployment environments. Installation is straightforward using front panel pushbuttons, hotkeys, or OSD navigation, and firmware is upgradable to support future enhancements.
