The CS1788 is an 8-port USB DVI Dual Link audio KVM switcher that consolidates keyboard, mouse, dual-monitor video and audio control for multiple computers from a single console. It supports both DVI and VGA connections and can be cascaded to expand the number of controlled hosts. The unit includes on-screen display (OSD) and hotkey control for fast access to connected systems.
Key features include Dual Link DVI support up to 2560 x 1600, mixed DVI/VGA operation, a built-in 2-port USB 2.0 hub and audio support for two speaker sets and two microphones. The CS1788 provides Multi-view capability allowing stacking of units for dual/triple/quad view monitoring and a three-level cascade topology for large installations. Administrative tools include OSD backup/restore and two-level administrator/user password protection.
Performance characteristics are optimized for professional video switching and monitoring – Dual Link DVI resolution to 2560 x 1600 and VGA to 2048 x 1536, DDC2B compliance and HDCP compatibility. Video DynaSync technology preserves monitor EDID and eliminates boot-up display issues while independent switching of KVM and USB focus ensures connected peripherals behave predictably. The unit is USB 2.0 compliant and provides full keyboard and mouse emulation for error-free booting.
Connectivity is comprehensive – front and rear console audio jacks, 2 x USB Type A console ports, DVI-I and VGA console compatibility and eight KVM ports supporting USB Type B, DVI-I and stereo audio jacks. The CS1788 supports multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac and Sun and offers multilingual OSD and keyboard mapping. Firmware is upgradable and the console features easy-access front-panel controls and LEDs for status monitoring.
Typical applications include data center server management, control rooms, broadcast monitoring and IT administration where multiple systems require centralized control and monitoring. The Multi-view feature and cascade topology simplify video analysis across multiple machines and video cards in monitoring setups. Broadcast mode and Auto Scan facilitate synchronized operations and continuous system checks.
