The CS1708i is an 8-port KVM over IP switch that provides both local and remote access to multiple servers. It supports PS/2 and USB connections and enables browser-based remote control using TCP/IP. This unit is designed for centralized server management and multi-user access in managed IT environments.
Key features include support for up to 32 concurrent remote logins and a Panel Array Mode that lets operators monitor up to eight servers on a single screen. Security features include TLS 1.2 for browser sessions and RC4 128-bit encryption for keyboard, video and mouse data. The switch also supports external authentication via RADIUS, LDAP, LDAPS and MS Active Directory for streamlined user management.
Performance and display capabilities include local console support up to 2048 x 1536 with DDC2B and remote sessions up to 1600 x 1200 at 60Hz with 24-bit color depth. The CS1708i features Mouse DynaSync and Video DynaSync to maintain pointer alignment and restore EDID for optimal display resolution. Firmware is upgradable and the system supports event logging and backup/restore of configuration and user accounts.
Connectivity options include 1 SPHD-18 console port, 8 SPHD-17 KVM ports, 1 RJ-45 LAN port, 1 DB-25 daisy chain port and a front-panel USB Type A port for peripheral sharing. The unit supports daisy chaining up to 15 additional units to control as many as 128 computers from a single console. Multiplatform and multibrowser client support ensures compatibility across Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Sun platforms.
Typical applications include server rooms, data centers and remote management stations where secure centralized access is required. Administrators can use auto-scan and broadcast mode to monitor systems and perform simultaneous operations such as software deployment or system shutdown. The built-in message board facilitates real-time operator communication and coordinated management among concurrent users.
The CS1708i is rack-mountable in a 1U 19 inch chassis and features a metal housing for durable deployment in pro racks. Hot-pluggable ports simplify maintenance and machine replacement without shutdown.
