The Aten CS1308 is an 8-port PS/2-USB VGA KVM switch designed to provide single-console control of multiple PCs. It allows a single keyboard, monitor and mouse to manage up to eight direct computers and up to 64 computers via cascade. The unit supports both PS/2 and USB interfaces for broad compatibility.
Key features include dual interface support for PS/2 and USB peripherals, front-panel pushbutton, hotkey and multilingual on-screen display (OSD) port selection. The switch includes Video DynaSync technology to preserve display settings and eliminate boot-up display problems. Security is provided by two-level password protection supporting up to four users plus one administrator.
Video performance supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 and DDC2B for accurate EDID management. The unit supports keyboard and mouse emulation so attached computers can boot regardless of console focus. Scan interval and auto-scan functions allow monitoring of selected systems with configurable scan timing from 1 to 255 seconds.
Connectivity includes one SPHD-18 console connector and eight SPHD-15 KVM ports, plus a firmware upgrade RJ-11 port and a DC power jack. The switch auto-detects PS/2 or USB interfaces on connected computers and supports USB keyboards for PC, Mac and Sun platforms. Hot-pluggable ports allow adding or removing systems without powering down.
This switch is suitable for control rooms, IT closets and small server racks where centralized console access is required. Typical use cases include multi-system administration, lab environments and mixed-platform deployments. The compact metal housing fits desktop placement or 19 inch rack mount 1U installations.
Installation is straightforward and requires no software; firmware is upgradeable via the RJ-11 port. The unit consumes DC 5.3 V at 5 W and includes buzzer on/off control via hotkey and OSD.
