The CL5708iN is an 8-port Slideaway LCD KVM switch that combines a 19in LED-backlit monitor, keyboard and touchpad in a 1U rack-mountable housing to provide single-console access to multiple servers. It provides both local and IP-based remote access so administrators can monitor and control connected systems from the rack or across the network. The unit supports PS/2 and USB peripherals and allows expansion via daisy-chain to scale control up to 128 computers.
Key features include integrated 19in LCD console, PS/2-USB dual interface, USB peripheral pass-through and daisy-chain expansion to add up to 15 additional units. The switch supports up to 32 concurrent remote logins and includes user messaging for coordinated management. Additional features such as Mouse DynaSync and Video DynaSync help maintain consistent pointer alignment and display EDID across sessions.
Performance specifications include local console resolution support to 1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz and remote session support up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz with 24-bit color depth. The CL5708iN uses RC4 128 bit encryption for keyboard/mouse/video and TLS 1.2 with RSA 2048 bit certificates for secure browser logins. The unit supports hot-plugging and keyboard/mouse emulation for simultaneous server booting.
Connectivity options cover 8 SPHD-17 KVM ports, 1 SPHD-18 external console port, USB Type-A ports for peripherals, a DB-25 daisy-chain port, RJ-45 LAN port and an IEC C14 power inlet. External console support allows a VGA monitor and USB or PS/2 keyboard and mouse to be attached. Integration with RADIUS, LDAP, LDAPS and MS Active Directory enables centralized authentication and authorization.
Typical applications include centralized server room management, data center rack consolidation and remote systems administration across IP networks. The CL5708iN is suitable where BIOS-level access is required and where multiple administrators require concurrent remote sessions. Panel array mode enables monitoring of multiple servers on a single screen for real-time oversight.
Installation is simplified by the Slideaway 1U form factor, front panel controls, and auto-sensing daisy-chain station positioning that eliminates manual dip switch configuration. Firmware upgrades can be applied to daisy-chained KVMs and configuration backup/restore is supported. The metal and plastic chassis and rack-mount design ensure reliable operation in standard equipment racks.
