The BTR-80N is a 2-channel UHF wireless intercom base station designed to provide reliable full-duplex voice communications in professional AV and broadcast environments. It supports frequency agility across the C3 band and includes an integrated talk/listen headset station at the base. The unit is engineered for multi-user operation and on-site interference management.
Key features include support for up to four simultaneous full-duplex beltpacks, Enhanced ClearScan frequency search, and a dedicated headset talk/listen station that allows a fifth user. The front panel provides independent enable/disable buttons and LED status indicators for portable stations. A front-panel headset jack auto-detects dynamic or electret boom microphones for quick setup.
Performance-focused technology includes DSP digital audio processing and a combination tone code/RF noise squelch to maintain intelligible audio in noisy RF environments. The BTR-80N uses improved narrowband modulation with 25kHz modulated bandwidth to increase user density per channel. Operating range is approximately 1000 ft depending on environment and site conditions.
Connectivity covers dedicated 2-wire XLE and 4-wire RJ-11 interfaces plus XLR balanced auxiliary audio input and output. The base supports interoperability with Audiocom, Clear-Com, and RTS/RTS matrix wired and wireless intercom systems. Dual-voltage power capability enables straightforward international deployment.
Typical applications include broadcast production, live events, theatre stage management, and sports production where multi-user full-duplex intercom is required. The unit handles stage announce output via relay closure and supports wireless talk-around ISO for local coordination. Enhanced ClearScan ranks available frequencies to minimize interference and intermodulation issues on crowded sites.
Installation and operation are simplified by a transparent menu-driven graphical user interface and a large backlit LCD for clear status and assignment navigation. Front-panel controls and preset factory frequency groups speed site setup while a transmit power level switch provides adaptable RF output.
