The BTR-80N is a 2-channel frequency-agile UHF intercom base station designed to enable multi-user wireless communications in constrained RF environments. It provides full-duplex operation and supports up to four wireless beltpacks simultaneously while also offering a talk/listen headset station at the base. The unit is optimized for live production, broadcast, and event communications where reliable wireless intercom is required.
Key features include Enhanced ClearScan two-button frequency selection, combination tone-code and RF noise squelch, and DSP digital audio processing to preserve intelligibility. The system supports a 25 kHz modulated bandwidth to increase channel density in crowded UHF bands. Front-panel controls include independent Portable Station enable/disable buttons with LED status indicators for rapid user management.
Technical capabilities include factory preset frequency groups, adjustable transmit power, and an approximate 1000 ft operating range under typical conditions. The BTR-80N supports A5F headset jacks and automatically detects dynamic or electret boom microphones on the front panel connector. The base station implements a stage announce output with relay closure and wireless talk-around ISO for local monitoring.
Connectivity options are comprehensive for system integration – XLR balanced auxiliary audio input and output, dedicated 2-wire XLE and 4-wire RJ-11 connectors, and compatibility with Audiocom, Clear-Com, and RTS matrix wired and wireless intercoms. Dual voltage internal power supply supports international deployments without external converters. The front panel headset station provides separate headset and boom-mic volume and gain controls for a fifth simultaneous user.
Typical applications include broadcast studios, live event production, theatre stage management, and corporate AV where multi-user wireless talkpaths are needed.
