The RTS BTR-800-FER5 is a UHF frequency-agile base station designed for full-duplex wireless intercom operation. It provides two independent audio channels and supports up to four beltpacks for simultaneous talk and listen communications. The unit operates across the 470-608 MHz and 614-740 MHz bands for flexible frequency planning.
The system offers two synthesized transmitters with 712 channels each and selectable transmit power levels. Beltpacks can choose between two intercom audio channels to create party lines or private lines, and the base station tracks beltpack channel selection. Additional features include backlit LCD status, ClearScan automatic channel selection, and wireless talk-around and stage announce controls.
Technical performance includes FM modulation with a deviation of 40 kHz (35 kHz Europe), a frequency response of 300 Hz to 8 kHz, and RF frequency stability of 0.005. The beltpack battery life is typically 12 hrs using standard alkaline cells, and microphone input sensitivity and local headset output are optimized for clear communications. The stage announce relay provides dry contact closure rated at 1 Amp, 24V max.
Connectivity covers adjustable 4-wire input and output levels, auxiliary balanced input and output, and TNC antenna connectors for supplied 1/2 wave antennas. The base station includes an IEC mains connector and supports interfacing to Audiocom, RTS Two-Wire, Clear-Com and other wired intercom or four-wire systems. The design permits table or rack mounting to suit studio or live production racks.
Typical applications include broadcast production, live event communications, and studio or OB truck intercom integration where reliable full-duplex wireless audio is required. The unit supports mixed party line and private channel workflows and provides stage announce and wireless talk-around functions for production flexibility. Its frequency-agile design helps avoid RF congestion in multi-system environments.
