The BTR-800 UHF base station is a frequency-agile wireless intercom hub designed for reliable full-duplex communications. It operates across the 470-740 MHz UHF range and supports up to four beltpacks operating on two independent audio channels. The system is intended for professional AV and broadcast teams requiring clear, simultaneous talk and listen capability.
Key features include two separate audio channels so operators can select party line or private communications, ClearScan automatic channel selection, and dedicated wireless talk-about and stage-announce controls. The base station supports binaural beltpack operation in stereo or mono modes and provides a backlit LCD for real-time status monitoring. The design includes a relay for stage-announce and configurable auxiliary audio paths.
Performance specifications include FM modulation with 40 kHz deviation (35 kHz for Europe), RF frequency stability of 0.005, and selectable transmit power settings of 100 mW and 10 mW. Line-of-sight operation typically reaches about 1,000 feet and beltpacks achieve approximately 12 hours of operation on standard alkaline batteries. Frequency coverage is provided in 18 MHz TX/RX bands across the stated UHF range.
Connectivity is extensive and professional grade. The base station includes level-adjustable 4-wire input/output, auxiliary balanced input and output, an IEC mains connector, and TNC antenna connectors. The BTR-800 is compatible with Audiocom, RTS Two-Wire, Clear-Com and other wired intercom systems and can interface with four-wire matrix systems. Stage-announce output and relay contacts are provided for external control integration.
Typical applications include broadcast production, live events, theater and corporate AV where discrete channel selection and full-duplex operation are required. Production managers can mix party-line and private communications in the same system and use the ClearScan function to avoid RF congestion. The system supports multi-user workflows while preserving audio clarity and intelligibility across the operating band.
Installation and operation are straightforward for experienced AV technicians. The base station is table or rackmountable and uses a standard IEC mains connector for power. Beltpacks are built in a weather- and shock-resistant die cast magnesium case and the base station provides user-friendly controls and status feedback via the backlit LCD.
